Two of Clare’s most experienced camogie players have rejoined the county panel ahead of the start of the All-Ireland championship next weekend.

Roisin McMahon who has captained her club Newmarket-on-Fergus to two senior camogie championships has answered the call from manager Ger O’Connell to return to the Clare panel. The Shannon based primary school teacher who was nominated for an All Star in 2017 had not been part of the county panel since Patricia O’Grady’s last year as manager in 2018.

McMahon featured at centre-forward and midfield for The Blues as they reached the county final but came up short against Inagh/Kilnamona. O’Connell and his management are believed to be considering the ex Clare minor captain for a position in the backs.

She is joined by long-time teammate Chloe Morey in returning to the county setup. An All Star in 2013, the Sixmilebridge had opted to take a year out for the season but has been enticed back to the squad.

A teacher at St Caimins Community School, injury may prevent Chloe from gaining a starting jersey. The youngest member of the Clare side that were crowned All-Ireland Junior champions in 2008, Morey is now one of the most experienced panel members.

It remains to be seen if additional members of the Inagh/Kilnamona championship winning team will be added to the Clare squad. They had yet to link up with the county side prior to their Munster semi-final win over Courcey Rovers last Sunday.

Clare are paired alongside Tipperary and Dublin in Group Three of the All-Ireland senior camogie championship. The Banner are scheduled to begin their campaign against Tipperary on October 18th in The Ragg and face the women from the capital on October 31st.
