Two Clare eateries have reopened after staff members tested negative for COVID-19.

On Saturday, Dan O’Connell’s Bar in Ennis announced a temporary closure after a staff member informed management they were showing symptoms of COVID-19. While tests were being carried out, the Abbey St bar and restaurant closed. Doors reopened on Tuesday after the results came back as negative.

“We have been overwhelmed with the support we’ve received the past number of days, through social media, private messages and numerous calls. The safety of our staff and customers was and is always to the forefront of our business,” a member of management stated.

The Cornerstone Bar and Restaurant in Lahinch is reopening on Thursday (today) having closed last week. All members of staff were tested for the virus with negative results returned in each case, management have said.

Management paid tribute to the staff and customers for their support over the past week. “I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful Cornerstone staff for the support they offered each other through this difficult time and I know they are looking forward to returning to a very happy and safe work place. I also want to acknowledge our understanding customers for all the respectful calls and messages both on social media and privately”.
