Reigning county and provincial champions Scariff/Ogonnelloe have consolidated their place iin the knockout stages of the Clare senior camogie championship.

In a fight for survival at Fr McNamara Park on Saturday evening, Scariff/Ogonnelloe dumped the Ger O’Connell managed Truagh/Clonlara out of the championship with a 1-16 1-10 victory. Full-forward Aoife Power converted 1-01 over the hour while Mairead Scanlan’s contribution of 0-07 was also pivotal as Jim Minouge’s outfit progressed to the knockout stages aided by indiscipline from the South-East Clare women.

Inagh/Kilnamona’s scheduled outing against Sixmilebridge was postponed on Saturday due to a member of The Bridge panel coming into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Clare Camogie chiefs have yet to confirm if the game will proceed but The Clare Echo understands that the fixture will not take place and Inagh/Kilnamona will be awarded top spot in Group Two.

A two goal haul from Carol O’Leary helped Newmarket-on-Fergus advance to the semi-finals. Prior to their 3-12 2-10 win over Kilmaley, the Blues were at risk of being eliminated from the championship. In a game that had flashes of lightning plus the flashes from the camera of David Dillon, Newmarket showed an improvement from their second round defeat to Kilkishen/Bodyke but their display would be insufficient to knock out one of the powerhouses. Despite the result, Kilmaley still secured their place in the last four.

Needing a considerable win and for the other group tie to go in their favour, Kilkishen/Bodyke were unable to put enough scores on the board in their meeting with St Josephs Doora/Barefield. It finished 1-15 3-06 in their favour against the intermediate champions of 2019.

Clooney/Quin recorded an impressive 1-18 2-01 win over Tulla with seven different scorers over the hour for the victors in the intermediate championship. Éire Óg had nine points to spare over Whitegate as they secured a 1-14 1-05 win. Feakle/Killanena’s strong run of form continued as they got past Clarecastle/Ballyea on a margin of 1-20 2-06.

Kilkishen/Bodyke saw off Ruan in the Junior A championship while there was success for Clarecastle/Ballyea, Scariff/Ogonnelloe, Truagh/Clonlara and Éire Óg in their Junior B outings.
