Galway Greyhound track continued to be a source of success for Clare greyhound owners with victories over the weekend for Ennis, Tubber and Kilmihil owned dogs.
The opening contest on Saturday nights Galway card was an A9 graded contest over 525 Yards and from trap the reserve Rockmount Kamala broke smartly on the wide outside and she was closely attended to by Suirview Mannix on the run towards the opening bend.
Racing down the back, Rockmount Kamala owned by Ennis’ Shane Flanagan opened up a five length advantage as Wee Small Hours moved into second place and although the latter closed rapidly from the home bend Rockmount Kamala was still a length and a half to the good at the line in 29.45.
Approaching the opening bend in the A7 graded third contest Sues Panda, Sports Magic and Feed Me Branston were all prominent but with the benefit of the inside line, Sues Panda took two lengths out of her rivals. Owned by Johnny Burke of Tubber, she extended her advantage to over three lengths as Merciful Ali went in pursuit but Sues Panda was clear form halfway as she scored by three and a half lengths in 29.50.
The N2 Graded fourth contest went in scintillating fashion to the Mullins-Curtin Syndicate of Gort owned Miss Joss(Sparta Maestro-Blundel Spark) who routed her rivals by upwards of six and a quarter lengths in a brilliant 28.73.
In the S5 graded fifth contest all six runners were away on terms and closely grouped approaching the opening bend where the Maria Browne of Kilmihil owned Burnpark Pluto shot to the front as Wilbrook Fantasy also improved rapidly. Racing around the home turn Wilbrook Fantasy swept to the front out wide but Burnpark Pluto rallied again close home to prevail by a length and a quarter in 19.55.
As the traps rose for the feature, all six runners were away pretty well but as they approached the opening bend the red jacketed Cloneyogan Flash held a narrow advantage over Rathmeehan May and Headford Melody. Turning down the back Cloneyogan Flash owned by Moy’s Siobhan Garrahy opened up a three length advantage in her rivals as Headord Melody moved in to second place but try as she did she couldn’t quite get on terms with Cloneyogan Flash who prevailed by a length and a half in 29.17.
The concluding heat of the Sean Connolly Plant Hire A3 Sweepstake went in trap to line fashion to the Sean Stack of Sixmilebridge trained Rallying Rivers who made all for a four and a half length success over Canya Blitz in 29.15. The winner despite jinking right coming away from his trap six berth showed plenty of early pace to lead form Canya Blitz and Mollrose Melody rounding the opening two bends. Racing down the back the winner went further clear with every stride and the Franck’s Walsh owned runner maintained the gallop all the way to the line.
On Friday evening, the opening heat went in trap to line fashion to Pinnacle Rio owned by Michael Costelloe of North Clare who recorded a comfortable nine and a half length success over Rising Turbo in 29.02.
In the third heat Ougham Tiger broke smartly and led on the wide outside from Tulla owned Banner Chops as they rounded the opening bend and at halfway the lead was two lengths with Blaze Dubh moved into third place. Approaching the third bend the Donal Duggan trained Banner Chops edged through on the rails to lead and the Pat and Gerard Mc Mahon owned son of Laughill Duke and Whitefort Meo stayed on well to defeat Ougham Tubber by a length and a quarter in 29.55.
A superb performance from the Stephen Murray trained Astro Abby saw him storm to success in heat five with a five and a quarter length victory ahead of Killanin Sky in 28.95.
