Two more people have died from COVID-19 with an additional 14 cases recorded across the country as Co Clare has now gone three days without an increase in confirmed cases.

As of today (Wednesday), the death toll in the Republic of Ireland from COVID-19 is now at 1,748 following confirmation from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) that a further two more people had died.

Co Clare for the third day in succession has not recorded any additional cases. A total of 369 people in the county have tested positive for the virus. Across the county, there have been 14 more cases confirmed bringing to 25,683 the total amount following the de-notification of one case.

A meeting of the National Public Health Emergency Team was held yesterday with another to take place on Thursday morning.

“We are at a sensitive stage in the pandemic, this requires caution and collective effort to hold firm and keep the virus suppressed in the community. Continue to follow public health advice,” Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn stated.
