The Kilrush Marina is an eclectic thriving community that underpins the natural beauty and tranquillity of the west of Ireland that are eagerly anticipating the arrival of visitors this summer.

The Marina boasts a one hundred and twentyย berth marina and a boat yardย with a forty-tonne hoist to accommodate larger boats.

It also provides support for RNLI boats. Elaine Oโ€™Mahony of Kilrush Maritime Limited, talks to The Clare Echo about how the Marina, teeming with activity and a hub of independent businesses is the perfect coastal getaway for Irish holidaymakers this year.

The Marina features two unique, floating glamping pods, each with its own outdoor seating area, double and single bed, as well as kitchen and cooking facilities. The only floating pods on the island, Elaine quotes this unusual stay as a unique experience. Fixed to the pontoon, the pods are situated beside the boats and yachts, with a full of view of the diverse activity taking place within the Marina.

Lessons are provided by the voluntarily Royal Western Yacht club of Ireland. Elaine mentions the classes available and her own experience, โ€œThis year we are running junior sailing courses for kids in July. They are week-long courses on dinghies, for children up to seventeen years of age. All our instructors are properly qualified. Itโ€™s a lovely marine to learn how to sail. Itโ€™s enclosed with no tide and extremely safe. There is often a misconception that sailing is for the elite. I had a great experience learning to sail here in a peaceful and relaxing environment.โ€

Elaine and Kilrush Maritime Limited are delighted to welcome back groups into the Marina which was closed by the RNLI until the lifting of the lockdown. For group sailing, dinghy sailing or cruiser sailing bookings visit the Kilrush Marina website.
