An award winning Clare-based international knitwear company has announced plans to invest €400,000 into its new Killaloe manufacturing facility and create ten new jobs.

McConnell Woollen Mills Ltd, established by Anne Behan in 2000 with the support of the Local Enterprise Office Clare and LEADER (administered by Clare Local Development Co Ltd),  will invest over €400,000 and create 10 new jobs over the next 3 years at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the facility’s opening.

Minister of State for Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection, Pat Breen speaking at the opening of the Killaloe facility praised the Clare company for its commitment to Irish design and employment within the county. “It is encouraging to see a company such as McConnell Woollen Mills, who have been based in Clare for the last twenty years, continue to expand and invest in the region. Despite the potential challenges that Brexit poses, they continue to demonstrate the opportunities for businesses in Clare and the West of Ireland to grow and develop international markets. It is fantastic to see the recognition they have already received for their success in export excellence to Europe, America and Japan”

Minister of State at the Department of Business, Pat Breen and McConnell Woollen Mills MD Anne Behan.

Anne Behan, MD and CEO, McConnell Woollen Mills Ltd commented, “Our continued investment in Clare and our highly skilled local staff, some of whom have been with us from the early days, enables us to provide the highest quality product range to clients across the world. We ensure all clients are looked after satisfactorily by having the creations made in Ireland using state of the art technological infrastructure.  This new facility will allow us to continue to grow and expand in the years ahead.”
