Two names remain in the hunt for the position of Clare senior hurling manager.

At the request of clubs, the process of appointing the successor to Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor commenced again two weeks ago. It’s as you were with Brian Lohan and Louis Mulqueen the only names proposed by clubs for the role.

Clare GAA confirmed on Monday night that Lohan and Mulqueen were the sole nominees for the senior job. No details of their backroom team have been released, the five person committee of Joe Cooney, Colm Honan, Michael O’Neill, Michael O’Connor and Niall Romer are expected to interview both men over the next forty eight hours.

There has also been two applicants for the position of Clare minor hurling manager. Outgoing boss Fergal Lynch has been nominated, 2019 was his first year in charge of the side, they reached the Munster Final and exited at the All-Ireland quarter-final play off stage. The former county forward previously told The Clare Champion he would not be continuing as minor manager.

Tipperary native, Brian Coffey who is a member of the Banner club has been put forward for the role. He was in charge of the 2017 Clare U15 side that won the Arrabawn title for the first time since 1999. The same cohort of players will be eligible for the minor grade in 2020.
