Once again, the site that was previously Our Lady’s Hospital in Ennis is for sale.

DNG O’Sullivan Hurley have put the property the market for €850,000, the 16.65 acre site is located on the Gort Rd. This is the third time it has been up for sale since 2015 when it was valued at €1.25m, in March of 2018 it sold at an online auction for €750,000. It consists of a detached three storey over basement former hospital facility completed in 1868 and extended to the rear in 1900.

Under the Clare County Development Plan 2017-2023, the area is zoned for commercial use. Planning was previously granted for the construction of a healthcare facility there but it expired in February of last year. Duesbury Ltd back in 2013 received the green light for the development, subject to 23 conditions, with JJ Enterprises Ltd failing in their bid to reignite such plans last year.

Redeveloping Our Lady’s is listed as one of the key objectives for Ennis as part of the Draft Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES) which has been compiled by the Southern Regional Assembly with aspires to complete the task as part of the National Planning Framework.
