Emma Austin is โ€œstill on cloud nineโ€ following her successful outing in the Miss Ireland competition over the weekend.

From Shannon, Emma was named as the first runner up in the seventy second running of the beauty pageant. Nineteen year old, Chelsea Farrell was crowned Miss Ireland becoming the first ever Louth winner.

Of the thirty three participants, Clareโ€™s represenative was closest to snatching the crown from Farrell. Twenty year old, Emma was thrilled with her final result. โ€œI had the most amazing weekend ever, the Miss Ireland final was on Saturday and Iโ€™m still on cloud nine, I came first runner up which was a huge shock, it was honestly amazing, the whole experience was fantastic. The actual show itself was amazing, to be able to stand in The Helix and dance on stage and be able to talk on stage was huge for me especiallyโ€.

A social care student at LIT, she paid tribute to the organisers for putting together the production and was grateful of getting the opportunity to represent her county. โ€œI made some of the best friends from itโ€.

Supporters from Shannon, Kilkishen and Limerick travelled to The Helix to show their backing for Emma, she said they made their presence known. โ€œA massive thank you to everyone who was there supporting me on the night, they were the loudest people there but it was amazingโ€. Her parents Kathy and Paul along with her younger brother Ben were among those stretching their vocal chords in the capital over the weekend.

This wasnโ€™t the first time in which the St Caimins Community School past pupil flew the county flag as she previously lined out at underage level for Clare in ladies football. The level of well-wishes from the public has increased for her latest outing and Austin is very grateful, โ€œItโ€™s been so nice to have everyoneโ€™s support, the support has been amazingโ€.
