Clare’s meeting with Meath in Division 2 of the Allianz National Football League has been postponed.

Heavy rainfall has made Cusack Park unplayable for Saturday afternoon’s fixture. A refixture could take place on tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday with Croke Park expected to make an announcement later today.

Elsewhere, the U21 A hurling quarter-final between Clonlara and Inagh/Kilnamona due to take place at O’Garney Park, Sixmilebridge has been called off. Two quarter-finals in the B competition (Clooney/Quin v Broadford) and (Scariff v Newmarket-on-Fergus) have also fell foul to the weather, the C quarter-final which pitted Cratloe against Ennistymon has suffered the same fate.

Similarly the Junior camogie clash between Clare and Roscommon will not take place.

On Thursday, Clare District Soccer League took the decision to call off “all local matches on grass pitches” over the course of the weekend. Four games are still scheduled to go ahead including Avenue Utd vs Carrigaline Utd in the Munster Youths Cup at Frank Healy Park plus the Third Division games involving Inch Crusaders and Kilkishen Celtic, Manus Celtic B and Ennis Dons as well as the Second Division meeting of Rhine Rovers and Bunratty Cratloe.

Walsh Park, Waterford has passed a 10am pitch inspection with the County Board stating, “More rain due but all should be good”.
