Mullagh’s Marty Morrissey has been named as the Presenter of the Year at the IFTA Awards.

In the only category decided by public vote, the RTÉ broadcaster beat off competition from Graham Norton, Miriam O’Callaghan, Ryan Tubridy, Karen Koster, Elaine Crowley, Hector Ó hEochagáin, Matt Cooper, Christine Lampard and Sharon Ní Bheoláin.

Taking to Twitter, Marty described the occasion as “one of the best nights in my life” and extended his appreciation to all those that voted for him online. “From the bottom of my heart please let me thank you People of Ireland who voted for me in the Gala IFTA TV Presenter of the Year. To be nominated was brilliant but to win is incredible! Can’t believe it but thank you & thank you IFTA”.
