TOMORROW marks the shortest day of the year and the Winter Solstice will be celebrated all over the country.
We here at The Clare Echo feel it should be no different in the Banner county so we have got you covered with our super handy Winter Solstice Guide.
You will need to drag yourself out of the leaba and look out the window before 8.43am if you live in Killaloe to be up in time to see the sunrise.
Those living at the tip of Loop Head can hit the snooze button as they don’t have to spring into action until five minutes later at 8.48am.
The weather may not co-operate however, as the forecast is for mild and misty conditions tomorrow morning.
If getting up at the crack of dawn isn’t your thing, then keep your eyes trained on the skies tomorrow evening to catch the second half of the show.
Look west at 16.19pm in Killaloe or head to Loop Head for 16.27pm to see the last of the sunlight on the shortest day of the year.
The Winter Solstice occurs when the sun shines directly over the tropic of Capricorn (the one in the southern hemisphere).
It has been celebrated for thousands of years across the world and some of our Christmas traditions started out with pagans celebrating this special day.
Needless to say it’s not so wise to look directly into the sun, but we will say it anyway.
Don’t look directly into the sun, unless you fancy paying one of our many fine opticians a visit.
