Two more COVID-19 deaths have been confirmed with an additional 13 cases notified to health officials and no new cases in Co Clare.

Ireland’s death toll from COVID-19 is the same as Thursday following the de-notification of two deaths and confirmation of an additional two. 1,714 people have lost their lives in the country since the outbreak of the virus.

Officials within the Health Protection Surveillance Centre have confirmed that a further 13 individuals have tested positive for the virus in Ireland. It brings to 25,368 the amount of confirmed cases to date.

No new cases have been attributed to Co Clare. As a result, the county has recorded eight days without confirmation of a new COVID-19 case. To date, 369 individuals have been identified as confirmed cases in the county.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan said the country is at a “crucial point in this pandemic”. He commented, “The importance of people exercising their own judgement and taking personal responsibility in protecting themselves and others cannot be overstated”.

Holohan added, “Hand washing, physical distancing, cough/sneeze etiquette, face coverings and knowing the symptoms of COVID-19 – and what to immediately when experiencing symptoms – is how every individual can equip themselves to live safely as restrictions are eased.”
