*Cllr David Griffin requested an update on repeated flooding in the Ballinoosky/Urlanbeg area
THE local drainage network has been cleaned in recent weeks as discussions continue with a landowner over a solution to repeated flooding in the Ballinoosky/Urlanbeg area of Newmarket-on-Fergus.
The update was given at the September meeting of the Shannon Municipal District following a Notice of Motion from Cllr David Griffin (FF).
Cllr Griffin had asked the Shannon MD to provide an update on plans to address the repeated flooding issue in the area.
In a written response, A/Senior Executive Engineer Caimin Dillon said discussions were ongoing with a local landowner to provide a solution to the issue.
“The local drainage network has been cleaned in recent weeks,” he said.
Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Griffin said he was happy with the response.
The motion was seconded by Cllr Rachel Hartigan (FF).
