ROAD closures and changes to public transport will be in place in the Doonbeg area during the Amgen Irish Open next week, as thousands of spectators are expected to travel to West Clare during the tournament.
Clare County Council has confirmed temporary road closures on the N67 and R484 during the event.
The N67 will be closed from Doonbeg village at its junction with the L-2030 to the N67/R483 junction at Clonadrum.
The R484 will also be closed from Creegh village to its junction with the N67 at Behan’s Cross.
The closures will be in place from 6am on Friday, September 11 until 11.59pm on Monday, September 14.
Clare County Council said the closures are being put in place at the request of An Garda Síochána for operational and security reasons.
Diversions will be available, with traffic directed via the N67 towards Kilkee and Kilrush and the R483 towards Cooraclare. Local access will be facilitated on the R484.
There will be no parking available at the golf club or in its immediate surroundings during the event, with spectators travelling to the tournament required to use designated Park and Ride facilities or shuttle buses. Gardaí have warned that vehicles parked along roads towards Doonbeg may be towed.
A free Park and Ride service will operate from designated north and south locations from Wednesday, September 9 to Sunday, September 13.
Spectators travelling by car must select a Park and Ride location when purchasing their event ticket and provide their car registration.
The North Park and Ride is located at Eircode V95 P7N2, while the South Park and Ride is at V15 HK77.
Additional shuttle services will also operate from Kilkee, Kilrush and Miltown Malbay to Doonbeg Golf Club and return from Thursday, September 10 to Sunday, September 13.
Return tickets cost €10, while spectators using the local shuttle services do not need to select a Park and Ride car park.
The first buses will depart at 7am, with the final buses departing at 5pm each day.
Visitors travelling to the tournament are being advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time for travel due to the road restrictions and increased traffic expected in the area.
The Amgen Irish Open will take place at Doonbeg Golf Club from September 10 to 13, with significant visitor numbers expected in West Clare.
US President Donald Trump is also expected to visit his hotel, Trump International Golf Links and Hotel, during the Irish Open.
