A BODYKE man has been left with serious injuries following a single vehicle crash in East Clare on Sunday night.
Bodyke had been buzzing on Sunday night after their intermediate hurlers recorded successive victories to put them within touching distance of making the semi-finals of the Clare Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship (PIHC).
Shock soon hit the village when word emerged of a serious accident at 23:40 that night.
The single-vehicle crash occurred on the R352 and the male occupant of the car aged in his forties was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick (UHL) for treatment of serious injuries.
The Clare Echo understands that the accident occurred about one kilometre from the man’s home. He continues to recover but has been left with serious injuries.
Garda Forensice Collision Investigators preserved the scene for a technical examination before it reopened on Monday.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and were travelling in the area of the R352 at Ballynahinch, Bodyke, between 11:00pm and midnight on Sunday are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
