THIS Sunday could see temperatures reach as high as 27 degrees in Clare as Met Eireann has issued a weather advisory and yellow weather warnings for high temperatures.

Temperatures in Clare are expected to rise from tomorrow and enter the mid to high twenties as Met Eireann is forecasting another spell of fine weather.

The meteorologist authority has already issued a Yellow High Temperature Warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford. The warning runs from 1pm on Friday to 7am on Sunday with maximum temperatures in excess of 27 degrees, combined with overnight temperature minimums in excess of 15 degrees.

Speaking to The Clare Echo, Met Éireann weather forecaster Aoife Kealey says while it will be warm in Clare, temperatures shouldn’t be high enough to warrant a warning. “It’s going to be very warm or even hot in Clare over the next couple of days. Those temperatures could be maybe up to 25 or 26 degrees but just not quite as hot as what would be required for that yellow high temperature warning. Nights would be very mild as well, 13 or 14 degrees, still very warm, just not quite warning level criteria”.

In terms of where in Clare will be hottest over the coming days, Aoife predicts that inland areas will be warmest. “It will be a bit cooler out near the coast. Areas like Shannon where we have our station there at the airport will be warmer. Anywhere away from the coast is likely to see those warmer temperatures, getting up to 25 or 26 degrees in inland areas”, she added.

While the outlook for the coming days looks good, Aoife says it’s too early to tell whether Clare will see any more sunshine over the summer. “The current spell of warm weather looks likely to continue into next week, potentially continuing for the entirety of the working week. There is a chance that Clare will see some hotter temperatures then next week. For your readers, it’s important to keep an eye on the forecast in case there is the requirements for any warnings later for the area”.

“Beyond that though, as we move towards uh through the rest of the summer, it’s really too early to tell whether there will be any further very warm hot spells or so on”, she continues.

Sea and lakeside locations in Clare are expected to see a surge in visitors due to the fine spell with Clare County Council advising people to treat the county’s waterbodies with caution. The predicted rise in temperatures coincides with the already busy tourist season and conclusion of Willie Clancy Week in Miltown Malbay, highlighting the possibility of increased visitors to the area.
