CO CLARE has recorded the hottest temperatures in the country in a long overdue spell of nice weather.

Showers are forecast for parts of Munster across Friday evening, some of which could turn heavy but the fine weather is due to last through to next weekend.

On Thursday, Shannon had the warmest temperatures in the country with Met Éireann’s weather station recording that it was 20.1c which was just above Mount Dillon in Roscommon at 19.3c. For the second day in a row, Shannon recorded the highest temperatures on Friday with readings of 21c recorded.

Warmer weather has led to more people heading to the Clare coast with Lahinch fresh from recording a bounce in visitors last weekend with the third annual Trad Fest.

Met Éireann has said that temperatures could hit 21c in parts of the country across the weekend. For Friday, it has forecasted highest temperatures for between 14c to 20c with the west having the warmest conditions.

Saturday is to be mainly dry with a fair amount of cloud and some sunny spells. Highest temperatures will be between 13C and 16C over the western half of Ireland.

As per its forecast, Met Éireann have said the weather “will continue mainly dry and settled as high pressure dominates” and added that sunny spells will continue into next week.

More unsettled conditions appear likely from next weekend.
