SHANNON AIRPORT have confirmed no flights have been delayed amid the ongoing protests on roads in Co Clare which are to continue for rush-hour evening traffic this Tuesday evening.

Protestors have took to the roads of Co Clare since 07:45 on Tuesday morning with major backlogs along the M18 and N85 for motorists throughout the day. The fuel crisis protest has hundreds of participants in Co Clare from transport, haulage and farming companies.

Flights have taken off as scheduled at Shannon Airport, a spokesperson for the Shannon Airport Group confirmed to The Clare Echo. Passengers were advised via social media to allow extra time for their journeys ahead of planned disruptions to the M18 and N18.

Organisers are hopeful to keep the protest going for rush-hour traffic this Tuesday evening with delays to be expected by commuters making their way home from work.

Several of the protestors who began at the Banner Plaza have retired for the day while individuals who were unable to join the protest will be linking up with the various groups in time for the rush-hour congestion.

Vehicles are travelling in a loop along the M18 up as far as Barefield (junction 14) and back down towards the Shannon exit (junction 9). Similarly, trucks and tractors are on convoy along the N85 to the Clareabbey Roundabout with some stretching as far as the Rocky Road Roundabout and onto the Lahinch Rd.
