NINE FLIGHTS diverted to Shannon Airport as a result of Storm David on Saturday.
Operations teams within Shannon Airport were supporting all diverted aircraft and passengers amidst the weather-related disruptions caused by Storm David.
Between 15:50 and 18:25, five flights had to divert to Shannon with a further four more up until 21:00.
The first aircraft from London Stansted landing safely at 15:50pm on Ryanair flight FR905 to Cork Airport. Passengers were transported by bus to Cork, and Cork–London Stansted passengers were transferred by bus to Shannon with an updated departure time from Shannon of 20:10.
Ryanair’s flight FR5911 from Lanzarote Airport to Dublin Airport also had to divert to Shannon with passengers travelling to the capital via bus.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight KL1129 from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Cork Airport had to divert via Shannon with a bus again provided to bring passengers to Cork Airport.
Ryanair flight FR9007 from Reus Airport in Spain to Cork Airport was the fourth flight to land at Shannon with a bus transfer to Cork Airport organised. The fifth flight was Ryanair FR7513 from Palma de Mallorca Airport in Spain to Cork Airport.
Later in the evening, four flights originally destined for Dublin Airport and Kerry had to land at Shannon Airport instead. They included Ryanair flight FR7063, operating from Alicante Airport in Spain to Dublin, Ryanair flight FR507, operating from Bristol Airport to Dublin, Ryanair flight FR6394, operating from Barcelona Airport in Spain to Dublin Airport and Ryanair flight FR7017-702, due to operate from Stansted to Kerry and return to Stansted had to operate both legs from Shannon Airport.
