GAA CLUBS in Clare will be able to regrade more players next year but only if they are aged over forty.

A slight change to the regarding system has been approved in Clare. It follows the unanimous acceptable of a proposal from Cooraclare to this week’s County Convention.

Clubs are currently able to regrade five players per adult team but this number will now increase with terms applied in that the additional players must be aged over forty.

Cooraclare Chairman, David O’Brien put forward the proposal. It was seconded by O’Callaghans Mills Chairman, Robbie Madden.

Their addition to the bye law states that “a maximum of two players shall be regraded from one grade of competition to another in any one year outside of the number of five (current number allowed is five) where the player is 40 years of age or over on January 1”.
