FOUR flights have been diverted to Shannon Airport during Storm Amy while there have been no reported delays for its scheduled flights.

Shannon Airport is โ€œoperating a full schedule as normal with no reported delays,โ€ a spokesperson for the Shannon Airport Group confirmed to The Clare Echo on Friday afternoon.

Gusts of 113km/h have been recorded at Met ร‰ireannโ€™s weather station in Shannon. Co Clare remains under a โ€œsevereโ€ Status Orange wind warning from 2pm on Friday until 10pm.

โ€œWe are closely monitoring weather conditions and recommend that passengers stay informed by checking with their airlines for any possible updates throughout the day,โ€ the spokesperson added.

Four flights have already been diverted to Shannon Airport due to the adverse weather conditions.

These include Ryanair flight FR423 from London Luton to Cork, which landed safely at 1:38pm, Ryanair flight FR905 from London Stansted to Cork, which arrived safely at 2:09pm, Ryanair flight FR6552 from Liverpool to Knock, which arrived safely at 2.24pm and Ryanair flight FR1742 travelling from East Midlands to Knock, which landed safely at 2.41pm.

Additional diversions to Shannon are anticipated over the coming hours.
