LISCANNOR Bay Association are launching their Community Biodiversity Action Plan in Ennistymon in conjunction with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group.

This Monday, September 29, BannerGleo, in conjunction with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG), are running a free event in Byrnes Restaurant (Main Street, Ennisytmon) from 7-9pm, to launch their Community Biodiversity Action Plan for Liscannor Bay. This plan, funded by Community Foundation Ireland, suggests a blueprint for how the local community can get involved to protect and maintain this fantastic natural amenity, now and into the future.

This event will include short talks by BannerGleo, the IWDG (and friends) covering recent projects and activities and offer an opportunity to discuss next steps in support of a thriving, inclusive and ecologically vibrant Liscannor Bay. Light refreshments will be provided after the event. As there are limited spaces please register on Eventbrite by searching BannerGleo Showcase and book your tickets

The IWDG was founded in 1990 to establish an All-Ireland sighting and stranding scheme and to campaign for the declaration of Irish territorial waters as a whale and dolphin sanctuary. Since then, the group has grown in numbers to become what it is today, a diverse group of people from varying backgrounds with one thing in common, a passion for whales and dolphins and the marine environment.

BannerGleo is a coastal community association working to support the natural capital and ecological integrity of Liscannor Bay by engaging with visitors and local stakeholders, delivering educational events and activities and completing scientific research and surveys.
