A STAR-STUDDED line-up takes to the stage in Ennis this evening (Thursday) with all proceeds going towards delivering vital humanitarian aid to people on the ground in Gaza.

Clare’s Gig for Gaza takes place in The Temple Gate Hotel with Susan O’Neill, Tara Howley, Padraig Howley, Ultan O’Brien, Neil Ó Lochlainn, Fergal Scahill, Ruth Smith, Ann Lyons, Seán Lyons and Aisling Lyons all performing in aid of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition.

Diarmuid De Faoite is the MC for the event. Doors will open at 7:30pm with the music commencing at 8pm. A raffle will also take place. Tickets are €25 and can be purchased on the night.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) is an international solidarity movement formed in 2010. It coordinates civilian-led aid missions by sea to break the Israeli blockade of the Gaza strip, delivering humanitarian supplies and protesting collective punishment through non-violent direct action.

FFC was formed following Israel’s raid on the 2010 Gaza Freedom Flotilla, which involved the killing of nine activists on board in international waters. Since then, it has organized efforts aimed at raising global awareness of the humanitarian needs of Gaza and demanded unrestricted maritime access to deliver essential aid. In addition, the coalition has demanded an end to the Israeli Occupation and that the international community act to hold Israel accountable for its violations of human rights and international law. Israeli authorities have regularly thwarted the coalition’s attempts, seizing the cargos and detaining the passengers.

Harpist Aisling Lyons from Newmarket-on-Fergus said, “Join us for a night of music and solidarity at the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis. We’re hosting a special event to support the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and the important work they do in attempting to deliver aid to the people of Gaza. Enjoy special live performances from some of the country’s most celebrated musicians and singers”.

Tickets can also be purchased online – TICKETS
