PARTS of West Clare are without a supply of water following two bursts along the one water main.

A water main in Miltown Malbay and Coore has burst in two different parts which has resulted in the loss of supply there and in the surrounding areas of Spanish Point, Mullagh, Cree and Cooraclare.

Uisce Éireann’s Water Operations Manager, Darragh Conneely said every effort is being made to restore water supply fully as quickly as possible. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while repair works continue”.

Repairs are expected to be completed by 4.30pm this evening (Tuesday). It takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the network recharges.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
