CLAREโ€™s senior hurling side will not be climbing the steps of the Hogan Stand this summer but there was success for some Clare hurlers in Croke Park over the weekend.

Victories for London, New York City and Roscommon over the weekend was aided by the involvement of Clare men on and off the field.

Killanenaโ€™s Seรกn Glynn captained London to glory in the Christy Ring Cup final as they defeated Derry 1-27 1-24. He hit 0-2 from centre forward for the side coached by ex Cork goalkeeper Anthony Nash. Clarecastleโ€™s Barry Morrissey, a son of two-time All-Ireland winner Kenny was also part of the panel as they won their first title since 2012.

Roscommon had a dramatic 3-16 1-21 win over Mayo to claim the Nicky Rackard Cup. Former Clare minor, Eoin Fitzgerald of the Inagh/Kilnamona club scored 0-3 from midfield. Managed by Oโ€™Callaghans Millsโ€™ Kevin Sammon, the Rossies had a strong Clare involvement with Doora/Barefieldโ€™s Patsy Fahey and Corofin native Mattie Shannon part of the coaching ticket with Stephen Cusack of Newmarket-on-Fergus the sideโ€™s S&C coach.

New York won their first Lory Meagher title with a 4-17 2-17 win over Cavan with three Clare men part of their panel. Dara Walsh of ร‰ire ร“g who captained the Clare minor hurlers in 2014 finished with 1-1 to his credit from corner forward, at the other end of the field was Clooney/Quinโ€™s ร‰anna Barry at corner back while Killian McNamara originally from Oโ€™Callaghans Mills was the sideโ€™s sub-goalkeeper.
