A BOIL water notice for households in South-East Clare has been lifted with immediate effect on Friday evening.

Ardnacrusha, Clonlara, Larkin’s Cross, Knockalisheen, Parteen, Shannon Banks and Westbury were the areas impacted by the notice which was issued on Thursday night.

Areas affected were all served under the Limerick City and Environs Public Water Supply. The notice was issued as a precautionary measure and was in place due to possible inadequate disinfection at the water treatment plant and leaving the Newcastle reservoir.

Uisce Éireann received notification from the Health Service Executive (HSE) on Friday evening that customers can now resume normal use of the public water supply. Water sampling results were undertaken prior to the decision to lift the notice.

Eoin O’Connell, Uisce Éireann’s Operations Manager said, “We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate the community’s patience and support while we worked to lift this notice. We would also like to thank the local elected representatives and the media for their assistance in sharing the information during the period of this boil water notice”.
