BERTIE AHERN’s former partner is selling her Killaloe home for €1.2m.

This week, Celia Larkin’s property in Killaloe has gone up on the market for €1,250,000. She moved to East Clare in 2006 and into the three-bedroom home called The Signets in Ballyvalley, Killaloe, following her split from the former Taoiseach, her partner of fifteen years.

Overlooking Lough Derg and within walking distance of all amenities in Killaloe, the luxury residence is built on a private 1.14 acre site. The property was built in 2003.

Harry Brann Auctioneers have said they are “delighted” to bring the property to market. “Presented to the market in pristine show-house condition, the property offers the would-be purchaser the rare opportunity to experience the joys of lakeshore living at its best”.

In March 2020, Celia was appointed as Limerick City Centre Revitalisation Manager, a role aimed at increasing the footfall to fight back against online shopping and out of town shopping centres.

This was for a three-year contract at Grade 7 of the Local Authority Operative Scales, which ranges from €49,835 to €64,786, depending on experience and service.

The Clare Echo understands that she is still employed by Limerick City and County Council but not in this title.

During the height of the Celtic Tiger, her appointment to the board of the National Consumer Agency was a controversial one.

A former personal assistant of Ahern, she appeared before the Mahon Tribunal inquiry into the former Taoiseach’s finances.

She ran a chain of beauty salons including The Blue Door in Dublin and Limerick.

As a mature student Larkin has graduated from the University of Limerick with a first class honors degree in Politics and International relations, graduating top of her class in 2013. She completed a post graduate course in University College London.

In 2016 she began worked for Thames Water in their HQ at Reading as External Affairs Manager. She began working for Limerick City and County Council in 2019 in financial services for the Support Services Directorate.
