A judge has said that it is very hard to walk out of Dunnes Stores with €345 worth of Francis Brennan bed linen under your arm and not be seen.

At Ennis District Court, Judge Alec Gabbett made his comment after hearing that Ennis woman, Eileen Delaney (22) is disputing that she stole Francis Brennan bed linen with a value of €345 from the Ennis branch of Dunnes Stores on October 16th last year contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud) Offences Act 2001.

Judge Gabbett said that Dunnes Stores would be able to provide CCTV of the alleged incident to Gardai.

Solicitor, Tara Godfrey told the court that Ms Delaney of Waterpark Heights, Ennis is disputing the theft charge.

Ms Delaney is also charged with stealing a cosmetic item with a value of €68 at Rochford’s pharmacy in Ennis on July 17th last, contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud) Offences Act 2001.

Ms Godfrey asked for Garda disclosure in the cases and Judge Gabbett has adjourned the cases to February 8th to Ennis District Court for disclosure of Garda evidence to Ms Godfrey.

Well-known hospitality expert, Mr Brennan’s own website states that “now in its 8th year at Dunnes Stores, Francis Brennan the Collection continues to bring hotel luxury to your home. Renowned for its quality and design, the collection has grown significantly since its launch in 2016”.

It states that “all bed linen is crafted from 300 thread count percale cotton”.
