A MAN in his thirties has died in a fatal road traffic collision in Kilkee.

At approximately 18:20 on Thursday evening, a male pedestrian was hit by a car on the N67 leading from Kilrush to Kilkee at Lisdeen.

Aged in his thirties, the man was fatally injured in the collision. No other injuries were reported.

Arrangements are underway for a post-mortem examination to take place with the local coroner already notified.

An Garda Síochána have confirmed that the road will remain closed overnight to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators which will be completed on Friday.

Diversions are in place and traffic is advised to divert via Doonbeg, with larger vehicles to use the R483 from Kilrush to Cree and then the N67 via Doonbeg

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
