Tuamgraney’s Shane Walsh was crowned Munster masters B handball champion last week when he defeated Roger Casey from Cork in the final.

However there was disappointment for both Sean Coughlan and David Considine (both Clooney/Quin) when they were defeated in the junior and under 21 finals respectively. Sean lost out to Jerome Cahill from Tipperary while Eoghan Daly from Cork accounted for David Considine.

All-Ireland final:

Leah Minogue will play in the All-Ireland Intermediate final this coming weekend when she will take on Amy Brennan from Kilkenny.

The pair met recently in the U.S collegiate finals when Amy recorded a narrow win.

Leah Minogue.

On her way to this final Leah defeated Cuileann Burke (Mayo) in the quarter-final and Jodie Keeling(Wexford) in semi-final.

Also in All-Ireland final action next weekend is Clare’s Chloe Philpott who will face Tyrone’s Clare Conway in the junior B final.

After a quarter final win over Alannah Coggeran she faced her fellow clare player, Amber Nolan and a time break was required to get a result in this one.

Fresh from his Munster final success, Shane Walsh plays in the Masters B final against Cavan’s Paul Fitzpatrick. In the All-Ireland semi-final Shane defeated Roscommon’s David Coggeran. All three are in action in Croke Park over Saturday and Sunday.

Juvenile:

Clare juveniles are preparing for Munster B Championships this week with Munster Fixtures due for the Development grades. Games will take place from under 12 to under 17 in singles and doubles in both girls and boys.

Club News:

Clubs are busy preparing for Féile handball which will take place in Connaught venues on April 20th.

Clare will be represented in the boys grades by Clooney/Quin, Kilkishen, Tuamgraney, Toonagh, and Clarecastle and in the girls by Toonagh and Kilkishen.

Finals in the Clare singles competition will take place over the week.

In an all Tuamgraney Division 1 final, Paddy Fitzgerald defeated Conor Downes.

There will be three finals with an all Tuamgraney Division 1 final between Conor Downes and Paddy Fitzgerald to be played in Clooney. The division 2 final will be between Christian Cummins of Toonagh and either Darragh Burke of Newmarket or Alan Leamy of Tulla and this final will be played in Clarecastle on Friday.

The division 3 final saw Tulla’s Donal Madden play Stephen Malone of
Clarecastle in Kilkishen on Wednesday evening.

One Wall competition:

Irish No.1 in the wall ball code, Conor McElduff of Tyrone, visited Clare on Thursday last. Conor gave a workshop including playing, tips, rules and the fun of playing Wall Ball handball to over 20 young and enthusiastic players along with coaches/adults. This will help players in their ambition to participate in the World’s Wall ball in University of Limerick in August of 2024 where games will be available for players from eleven years to adult.
