Irish titles and places on Team Ireland for the World Championships were up for grabs at the weekend when the Irish Junior Nationals were played at the National Handball Centre at Corke Park.

Sean Considine of Clooney/Quin was the leader of the pack for Clare, winning the boys Junior title in the 15 and under category and gaining a place on Team Ireland. Sean defeated Oisin Ó Neachtain of Galway in the quarter final, Bertie O’Donoghue from Inis Mór in the semi-final and Ciarán McCrystal, Tyrone in the final. This was after qualifying for the event with wins over Nathan Lawlor, Wexford
and Conor Manogue, Kilkenny.

Christian Cummins.

Further silverware came to Clare with Christian Cummins of Toonagh winning the boys 17 and under B title, defeating Benoít McKiernan, Leitrim in the final after overcoming Cillian Fahy, Galway in the semi-final.

Claire Minogue.

Claire Minogue of Tuamgraney won the girls 17 and under Plate defeating Holly Byrne, Kilkenny in the final. Claire was unlucky to lose her cup quarter-final to title winner Caislin Treacy, Tyrone in an 11-10 tie break.

Sean Daly.

Sean Daly, Tuamgraney won the boys 15 &U B plate final defeating Finn Lynch of Dublin. He was also unlucky to lose his cup quarter-final in a tie-break. Matthew Coughlan, Clooney-Quin lost the 17&U quarter-Final to title winner Shea Munroe, Tyrone.

Juliet Moroney, Kilkishen lost the 13&U quarter-final to title winner Emma Conway, Tyrone while Ellie Frost,Kilkishen lost the 15 &U quarter-final to Freya Donnellan, Galway.

Charlie Collins, Tuamgraney was beaten in the 13 &U quarter-final to title winner Shane Doyle, Kilkenny.

There was also the U11 fun event which saw doubles pairings attend the National Centre and get to play games against players from other counties. Clare had Jack Kirby (Newmarket-on-Fergus), Cathal McNamara (Tuamgraney). Gearoid and John MacDonnacha (Kilkishen). James Hoban and Eliah Kenny(Newmarket-on-Fergus) and Sophia Moroney/Ella Kirby(Newmarket-on-Fergus) all taking part.

Adult Leagues:
Division 1; Tuamgraney 1(Shane Walsh/Cathal McKenna) and Tuamgraney 2 (Conor Downes/Paddy Fitzgerald) will play off in the semi-final to play Kilkishen 1(Mark Crehan/Colin Crehan).

Division 2; Clooney (Cian Keogh, Matthew Coughlan, Darragh Keogh, David Considine) play Tulla (Oisin Donnellan, Alan Leamy, Daniel Vaughan, Declan Murphy, John Fahy) in the final.

Division 3 Clarecastle (Jake Kearney, Owen O’Hara, Jordan Barnes, Jack Hayes) will play Toonagh or Tulla in the final on Thursday evening.

Division 4 Clarecastle 2 (Jamie Coughlan, Jeff Coughlan, Aaron Hayes, Cailean Hayes, Rhian Sheridan, Finbar Sheridan, Pat Hayes) play Kilkishen (Tim Custy; Oisin Cleary; Joe Hogan; Alan O’Dea; Mike Canny; Fergal Kennedy; Martin Bon; Simon Daz; Mike Cotter; James Downing; Keith Crehan; Darragh Moroney) on Friday evening in the final.
