Officers for 2024 at East Clare golf club โ€˜drove-inโ€™ to office on Bank holiday Monday in front of a big attendance.

The officers for this year are Noreen Doyle (Lady captain), Maurice Costello (menโ€™s captain) and Evelyn Skehan (President).

The drive in was followed by a 9 hole scramble. The winners on the front 9 were Mary Mannion, Kevin Mannion, Sean Ahern and Ray McInerney from Brid Hayes, Ger Hoey and Ger Hogan with third place filled by Kay Grimes, Mark McInerney and Jack Brennan.

The competition on the back 9 was won by Mary Farrell, Terry Mulvihil and Neil Harrington from Breda O’Loghlin, Shane McInerney and Paul Hayes with third spot filled by Kathleen O Brien, Michael Heffernan, and Pat Carey.

The ladies Wednesday competition was won by Trish Kerr, Ursula Hogan and Mary Fitzgerald, Mary Collins from Breda O’Loghlin, Evelyn Skehan and Mary Jo Minogue with third spot filled by Kay Grimes, Connie McKenna and Pauline Nugent.

The Winter League is ongoing with the final set for February 25.

Kilrush Golf Club:

The competition at Kilrush on Sunday was the Johnson’s Bar Qualifier and victory went to Fergal O’Connor (11) from Michael J Hogan (13) with third place filled by Brian Scanlan (8), all three returning 26 points. The gross was won by Bernard Coleman with 15 points

Woodstock Golf Club:

The weekend club singles, an 18 hole stableford competition, at Woodstock was won by Gary Thompson (12) with 38 points, one morethan Dickie Pyne (12) 37 points. Mike Hogan (18) also with 37 points was third.

The Ozone Health & Fitness League continued and the format this week was singles (Combined Cards) over 18 holes. The winners were Mike Reen and Mike Kelly with 77 points from Cathal Nagle and Eugene Killeen with 71 points with third place filled by Kieran Dromey and Seamus Kelly with 69 points.

The Bank holiday Monday team of three yellow ball competition was won by Cathal Nagle, John Dempsey and Eugene Killeen with 86 points. The league continues this weekend when the format will be modified 2 step while there will also be a club singles

Gort Golf Club:

In the 18 hole singles stableford competition at Gort at the weekend the winner of category 1 was Paul Smith (10) with 43 points. Paddy Prendergast (16) won category 2 with 39 points, Malachy Whyte (18) won category 3 with 45 points and Gerry Kavanagh (23) won category 4 with 41 points.
