Theย ARC Cinema,ย Ennis is excited to welcome the people of Clare and beyond to their newly-renovated cinema.

Formerly known as Empire Movieplex, the now refurbished seven-screen complex has been modernised for an improved and more comfortable cinema experience.

Managed by local man Cathal Oโ€™Sullivam, the impressive Parnell Street theatre is part of the The Arc Cinema Group which manages cinemas across Ireland and the UK.

Cathal explains that Arc have โ€œcompletely revampedโ€ the cinema since taking over from its previous owners adding that there are โ€œlots of exciting things to comeโ€.

โ€œWe have modernised the entire cinema experience with all newย luxury leatherย seats, furniture and dรฉcor. From the entrance and stairs to the corridor and auditoriums, everything has been brought up to date.โ€

Theย Arcย Cinemaย has a schedule of Christmas movies running throughout the festive season including classics such as Home Alone and Elf โ€“ which is celebrating its 20th anniversary โ€“ while Die Hard will be showing during Christmas Eve weekend, and Mark quips, โ€œthe age-old debate of whether itโ€™s a Christmas movie or not, weโ€™ll let Ennis decideโ€. Gift cards are also available making the perfect Christmas present for anyone in your life.

PROGRAMMING

The Arc Cinema Ennis, which is wheelchair accessible, offers a wide variety of programming to cater to everyoneโ€™s needs. The first showing every weekend at 11am (and every day during holiday terms) is the Kids Club film which is โ‚ฌ3.50 for all visitors, adults and children. Every Tuesday, The Arc Cinema runs Crazy Tuesday where all tickets are 6.50 to every movie. โ€œWe offer the kids club so that everybody in the wider community can access the cinema at a really good value price pointโ€ notes Cathal.

Every week The Arc Cinema hosts a Silver Screen movie every Friday afternoonย for โ‚ฌ6 for over-65s, there are sensory screenings for children with Autism, family tickets, while Arc Cinema is one of the only cinemas offering a subtitles film every week.

ย โ€œWe also screen live events, live operas, theatre, concerts, from all over the world and theyโ€™re beamed live by satellite so people are watching live as theyโ€™re happening on stage,โ€ explains Mark.

He adds, โ€œWe are big on family, youโ€™ll see throughout next year weโ€™ll have lots of family friendly events with face painting and more. As well as all that, we carry the latest releases.

โ€œWe are really excited to welcome everyone to our new cinema. We think weโ€™ve done a great job and have improved everything that was already there, weโ€™re really excited to be in Ennis for a very long time.โ€
