BURREN SMOKEHOUSE founder, Birgitta Hedin Curtin, has been invited to be a guest contributor at this year’s Canadian Terroir Symposium.

Taking place from September 30th to October 2nd, the symposium is described as “three food-fuelled days of transformative discussions, workshops, and relationship building” and brings together innovative people from the field of hospitality, including chefs, hoteliers, drink experts, writers and business leaders.

Approximately 400 attendees from all over the globe are expected to attend.

In addition to delivering a smoking Irish organic salmon workshop, Birgitta will also appear on the main stage along with fellow Irish Food Ambassadors, JP McMahon and Darina Allen, to discuss Ireland’s food culture and identity.

“It is an honour to represent Ireland at such a prestigious event. I look forward to extolling the virtues of Ireland’s culinary delights and promoting Ireland as an incredible food tourism destination,” Birgitta admitted.

After the symposium, Birgitta will continue to travel to other regions in Canada as part of a Tourism Ireland delegation showcasing the unique experiences that Ireland has to offer. The audience will have an opportunity to taste smoked Irish organic salmon canapés whilst hearing about the Burren Smokehouse’s various experiences including the VIP tour of the smoking facility and the Taste the Atlantic Salmon Experience.

Birgitta set up the Burren Smokehouse in 1989 and the business has gone from strength to strength exporting a range of Irish organic smoked salmon products on a worldwide scale. Next year the company will celebrate 35 years in business.
