Status Red Weather Warning

CO CLARE will be under a yellow wind warning from 7am on Wednesday morning.

Storm Agnes is set to hit on Wednesday resulting in very windy conditions and outbreaks of heavy rain possibly resulting in spot flooding.

An orange rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday where there will be spells of heavy and occasionally intense rain, combined with very strong and gusty winds. This could lead to difficult travel conditions, localised flooding, and poor visibility.

From 7am on Wednesday morning until midnight, Co Clare will be under a yellow wind warning. Strong and gusty southerly winds will veer westerly later on with the possibility of coastal flooding, difficult travel conditions, power outages and some fallen trees.

Senior meteorologist with Met Éireann, Gerry Murphy said there is a possibility of some low level coastal flooding tomorrow but that the maximum wind and rain expected with Storm Agnes should not correspond with the highest tides.

Appeals are being made by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) to road users to exercise caution while using the roads on Wednesday.

Due to the inclement weather expected, all Munster GAA Post Primary Schools Under 15 Football games scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed. The CCC have rescheduled these ties to Friday October 6th.
