ALL QUARTER-FINAL places in the Clare senior hurling championship have been filled so there’s plenty to discuss on the latest episode of The Water Break.

Ross O’Donoghue is in the presenter’s chair and he’s joined by Tulla’s 2007 Clare SHC winning captain, Michael Murphy, former Scariff senior hurler Conor McNamara who managed them to success in the U21A hurling championship last year and Seamus Hayes sports reporter with The Clare Echo and long-term follower of the local GAA scene.

Scariff’s draw with Kilmaley on Saturday evening was enough to see both teams advance to the last eight and it also ended Ballyea’s reign as county champions and their quest for a three in a row.

Entering the hat for the quarter-final draw in pot one are Scariff, Clonlara, Newmarket-on-Fergus and Feakle while sitting in pot two are Kilmaley, Crusheen, Clooney/Quin and Éire Óg.

On the Clár:

  • Most open championship in a long-time
  • No team will fear any of the remaining opponents
  • Neither Scariff nor Kilmaley took chance to make a statement on Saturday
  • Marquee forwards central to the teams will make final four
  • Solid defences the backbone
  • Quality of freetakers
  • Dark horses
