Meelick native Ross who formerly served as Sports Editor of Clare FM has plenty of experience in the media industry, having also worked in broadcasting for TG4, Virgin Media Sport, FM104, Spin South West and Live 95fm.
He has more recently been working in communications management with organisations such as the IRFU, Basketball Ireland, Special Olympics Ireland and the Olympic Council of Ireland.
His return to sporting coverage in the Banner County may be seen as a positive omen for Clonlara’s senior hurlers as their 2008 success was the first Clare SHC campaign during Ross’ time with Clare FM.
Head of News and Sport with The Clare Echo, Páraic McMahon said the concluding stages of the Clare SHC would be all the better for subscribers with Ross’ addition. “Getting Ross on board to host this podcast will strengthen our dominant position for online sporting coverage. Ross’ creativity and humour coupled with the opinions of local pundits will continue to keep The Water Break as the first port of call in reflecting on the weekend action of a competitive championship.
“I am very much looking forward to seeing Ross put his own stamp on The Water Break’s Clare SHC edition, getting him on board in this capacity has been a target for some time so we are excited to see it come to fruition,” McMahon added.
“I’m thrilled to be jumping back into club action in Clare, especially with the great line up of guest analysts we have on board,” Ross said. “The race for the Canon Hamilton holds a particular fascination in Clare and we’re already deep into this campaign so there will be lots to talk about.
“Still, somebody would want to tell Páraic the GAA dropped the water break last year. I’m not sure he’s twigged that one yet. Nice fella though.”
