A JUDGE has granted a barring order to a woman against her ‘jealous’ husband who forced her to take a lie detector test due to his belief that she was with other men.

At the Family Law Court, Judge Vincent Deane granted the two year barring order to the woman who told the judge that her husband โ€œis very violent and aggressive when he was wants to be, very aggressive because of his jealouslyโ€.

The woman said, โ€œRecently, he accused me of being with other menโ€.

She told Judge Deane, โ€œHe forced me to take a lie detector test as he thinks I am with other men.โ€

Asked by Judge Deane where would you go for a lie detector test, the woman said, โ€œIt is very complicated – and very stupid. He drove me to Galway to take the lie detector testโ€.

The woman said that her husband has beaten her up as well. She said, โ€œHe punched me and kicked meโ€.

The woman said that after obtaining an interim barring order against her husband recently, he left the home.

The woman said that her husband has tried to contact her through a childโ€™s phone.

The woman said, โ€œI havenโ€™t been speaking to him but he wants to talk to me through the kidโ€™s phoneโ€.

The man didnโ€™t turn up in court to contest the barring order application.

The barring order prohibits the man from entering the family home and engaging in further violence or threats of violence against the woman.

After hearing the womanโ€™s uncontested evidence, Judge Deane said, โ€œI am satisfied the threshold has been met for a Barring Order and I put it in place for two yearsโ€.

In a separate and unrelated case, Judge Deane granted a protection order to a woman against her son who made threats about trying to burn the house down, smash the windows in the house and threatening to kill her adult daughter.

The woman said that her sonโ€™s behaviour is โ€˜escalatingโ€™. The woman said that her son in her 20s left home four years ago.

The woman said that her son โ€œis not welcome and not invitedโ€ to the family home.

Judge Deane told the woman that if her son breaches the order โ€œcontact the Gardaรญโ€.

Judge Deane said that the Gardaรญ will serve the Protection Order on the man.

Judge Deane told the woman โ€œKeep yourself safeโ€.
