NEWMARKET-ON-FERGUS have moved to the top of the table in the FutureTicketing Division 1A Clare Cup.

A fifth win on the bounce has seen the Tomรกs Ryan managed Newmarket-on-Fergus to the top of the table in Division 1A of the Clare Cup.
In blistering sunshine at Glenomra Park in Broadford this Tuesday evening they had four goals to spare over the home side who are in danger of being relegated with just one win from six outings. Broadford must win both of their final two outings to stay in the top tier.
The winners held a six point advantage at half time when the score was 1-12 to 0-9, their first have goal having come from Mikey McInerney.
Newmarketโs ability to breach the home sideโs defence was key to this victory as they got through for three goals in the second period, these goals coming from substitutes James ‘Jellies’ Power and Eoin Guilfoyle while John Feehilly also found the net following good work from Padraic Guilfoyle and Colin Ryan.
Niall OโFarrell was the home sideโs top scorer while Oisin Kavanagh, Stiofan McMahon and Craig Chaplin also did well for the East Clare outfit.
With two games to play, Newmarket lead the way by a point from Crusheen who have two games remaining and Kilmaley who have just one to play.
Sixmilebridge and OโCalllaghans Mills are also very much in contention for places in the knock out stage of the competition.
