YOUNG MEMBERS OF Lisdoonvarna RFC lined out in Thomond Park at half-time of Munster’s clash with Glasgow Warriors on Saturday.
Losing 38-26 to Glasgow in the United Rugby Championship was a disappointing showing from Munster, particularly their opening half where they trailed 28-0.
Matters improved in the second half and they may have been inspired by the youngsters from North Clare who took to the field at the interval.
Lisdoonvarna RFC was founded in 2021 with the Give It A Try (GIAT) campaign which is an IRFU initiative to get girls playing rugby. The GIAT campaign led to the beginning of minis rugby every Saturday morning, the club now caters for children aged five to sixteen in the area.
Members of the U11 boys and girls had the opportunity to play at half-time of Saturday’s game in what will be a memorable experience for the youngsters.
Club officials are hopeful of further growth with the introduction of rugby to all ages through 7s and tag rugby planned.
