FIRST STEPS in fundraising efforts for St Mochullaโ€™s National School and Tulla Camogie Club hit the catwalk next Saturday.

St Mochullaโ€™s NS Board of Management Chairperson, Angela Byrnes explained, โ€œOur objective is to develop an all-weather pitch at the National School, so that our children have the facilities to play sports all year round. In todayโ€™s world this is ever more important for their wellbeing and health and a key part of our Active School Policy. The project will cost approximately โ‚ฌ120,000 but as we know this is increasing as we writeโ€.

A grant of โ‚ฌ45,000 has been secured via the Sports Capital Grant but the remainder must be obtained through fundraisers.

As part of these efforts, a fashion show will be held in St Josephโ€™s Secondary School, Tulla on Saturday February 18th. Bredaโ€™s Fashions, Ennis, Lilys Boutique, Ennis Carraig Donn,Mods & Miniโ€™s plus Freyaโ€™s Boutique, Ennis are among the participating boutiques who will be showcasing the latest fashion trends in sports, athleisure wear, childrenโ€™s wear.

Former school principal Brian Torpey will be MC on the night alongside Claire Fitzsimons with some surprise acts promised for the interval.

Angela said, โ€œThere will be a monster raffle with some very special prizes to be had on the night. We will also be hosting a Best Dressed Person competitor, so be sure to put on your best outfits on the night. On arrival guests will be treated to champagne reception, which can be enjoyed while browsing the art and craft exhibition provided by local artistsโ€.

Tickets costing โ‚ฌ30 are selling fast and are available now from: Joelleโ€™s Hair Salon, Bia Follain Health Food, Tulla Pharmacy, and Vaughan Supply. Tickets can also be obtained by messaging Tulla NS Astroturf Project on Facebook or via phone (065 6835840).

St Mochullaโ€™s has 224 pupils and a long history in Tulla and fosters an environment that values the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual growth of children. Tulla Camogie Club was founded in 1986 and continues to grow, with teams now being fielded at all levels from U-8 to Intermediate. Last year, the club fielded two adult teams for the first time.
