SUCCESSIVE WINS in the National Football League are vital for Clare if they are to have aspirations of securing promotion to Division 1, manager Colm Collins has said.

Clareโ€™s footballers are the visitors to Pairc Tailteann in Navan this Sunday in what will be Colm Oโ€™Rourkeโ€™s first home game in the League since his appointment as Royal County boss last year.

Oโ€™Rourkeโ€™s reign began with an impressive away win against Cork while Collinsโ€™ Clare had a dramatic final rally to overcome Louth by a single point in Cusack Park.

Collins said it was now essential for Clare to build on their winning start. โ€œThe stakes are a bit higher this year, weโ€™ll be going to Navan and hoping to get two points thereโ€.

โ€œEvery game is vital, if you could get a couple of wins behind you then youโ€™re looking at the top end of the table rather than the bottom, weโ€™ve been in Division 2 long enough now so weโ€™re trying to go the other way if we canโ€.
