St. Josephs Tulla 4-10
Blackwater Community School Lismore 1-4

THE ST JOSEPH’S Tulla U15 hurlers made the familiar trip to Knocklong, County Limerick this week.

It’s a pitch St Joseph’s have become familiar with, with the 16.5 hurlers victorious over North Mon there and the Harty team beaten by Colman’s in the same pitch just a few months prior.

Despite flurries of snowfall evident in several patches on the pitch, it proved no disruption for Tulla. From the word go Tulla were in the ascendency with star man Liam Murphy getting off 1-2 within the first 10 minutes of the game.

From there, they kept their foot on the pedal for the rest of the half, going into the break 10 points up at 2-6 to 0-2.

St Joseph’s excellent concentration levels were evident as they came out in the same vein in the second half wtih some fantastic scores, while the defence deserves much praise for keeping the Blackwater forwards at bay with some incredible and hearty defending from players like man of the match Harry Nolan, Louis Jennings and Mattie Molloy, who put in a solid performance from corner back in his first game for the team.

The game was all but wrapped up when Liam Murphy put in his 3rd goal following a great ball played in by corner forward Tom Moloney to kick St Joseph’s into the next round against either Cashel Community school or Abbey CBS.
