A SMALL AREA OF FOOTPATH at the back gate of Ennis Cathedral is scheduled to be upgraded before Christmas.

Brought into focus by Cllr Pat Daly (FF), a small area of footpath close to the old stop on Station Rd and adjacent to the back gate of Ennis Cathedral has been approved for an upgrade.

Acting senior executive engineer with the Ennis MD, Paddy Tiernan outlined that the section of footpath was also identified during a recent walkability study of the county town. “Ennis MD is happy to report that funding has been secured under the Ennis Town Enhancement and Co-Creating Scheme. It is envisaged that an upgrade of this section of footpath will be complete before Christmas 2022”.

Speaking at a sitting of the Ennis MD, Cllr Daly admitted he was “very happy” that works would proceed. His proposal on the matter was seconded by Cllr Johnny Flynn (FG).
