ONE MAN AGED in his twenties has died following a two car collision in Parteen.

Shortly before 10pm on Friday night, two cars were involved in a collision on the R463 in Parteen at Larkin’s Cross. The scene was attended by Gardaรญ and emergency services.

A man, aged in his 20s, received fatal injuries from the collision and was later pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. His body has since been taken to the Morgue at University Hospital Limerick.

Another passenger from the same vehicle, a man in his late teens was taken to UHL to receive treatment for serious injuries.

Gardaรญ are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them. Anyone with information can contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Clare TD, Cathal Crowe (FF) who resides in the locality told The Clare Echo, โ€œThis is an awful tragedy and I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to the family of the young man who lost his life. I hope the teenage passenger who is currently hospitalised makes a full recoveryโ€.

Deputy Crowe added, โ€œThe R463 is the main arterial road from Limerick City to South-East Clare. Itโ€™s a road thatโ€™s quite busy with work commuters and people doing school drop-offs every morning and evening but is usually not overly congested at other times. Itโ€™s too soon to begin any sort of analysis as to what caused this awful accident but for now the emergency personnel who attended the scene must be acknowledged and thankedโ€.
