DR SUSAN CRAWFORD, Ennis Tidy Towns and Mary Fitzgerald are to be honoured at this year’s Muintir an Chláir dinner dance.

Members of the Clare Association Dublin (Muintir an Chláir) are taking a break from their summer holidays to organise two major events on their annual calendar, the charity walk and awards dinner dance.

Both events had to be postponed for the past two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

First up will be the Martin Corry 10k charity walk on Sunday, September 11, starting from the Comhaltas Clasac Centre on Alfie Byrne Road in Clontarf, at 12pm. The Comhaltas Centre is also the end point for the walk with tea and refreshments available at the finishing line. All are welcome to participate and proceeds from the walk will go towards Ukrainian Refugees Ireland (Clare area of the Red Cross).

On Saturday October 1st, the Clare Association will hold its annual awards dinner dance and the venue for the second time will be the Falls Hotel, Ennistymon. The association is this year honouring Dr. Susan Crawford who has won national and international recognition for her work in the area of autism. A native of Inagh, she will be presented with the Clare Person of the Year award.

Founding member of Clare Haven Services, Mary Fitzgerald will be presented with the Hall of Fame award. The Meitheal Award will go to members of the Ennis Tidy Towns committee which has been responsible for the capital town winning many national awards including Ireland’s Tidiest Town in 2005 and again in 2021.

Members of the Clare Association are looking forward to having the usual big support for the awards dinner for which dance music will be by Eclipse. Tickets for the function can be had from any of the association’s committee members or from Treasurer, Gerry O’ Reilly(086 8498192).
