A STRONG 7-0 win was secured by Newmarket Celtic to keep their aspirations of back to back Premier Division titles alive, Lifford FC had bragging rights over Ennis Town FC with both Coole FC and Tulla Utd set to secure promotion from the First Division.

Champions Newmarket Celtic A maintained their strong challenge to retain the premier league title when they easily overcame the challenge of Sporting Ennistymon on Sunday.

They were 4-0 ahead at half time and continued to hold the upperhand in the second period. Manager Mark Oโ€™Malley made five changes during the course of the game including the move of Colin Smyth to goalkeeping duties in the second half.

The goalscorers were Davy McCarthy and Eoin Kelly (2 each), Gearoid Oโ€™Brien, Stephen Kelly and Cael Gaffney.

Trailing by a goal at half time, Lifford struck twice in the second half to earn victory over Ennis rivals Ennis town on Sunday.

Eddie Killeen and Paul Martin were the scorers for the winners while Ennis Townโ€™s goal came from Dean coughlan in the opening half.

In the Ann Romer Flowers First Division, Coole FC and Tulla Utd remain on course to be playing in the top flight next season. Coole are on top with 42 points from sixteen games, Tulla are second with 41 points from 17 games.

Coole FC are in action next on Wednesday May 22nd versus Shannon Town B where a win would see them crowned league champions, Tulla Utd recorded a 1-1 draw with Kilrush Rangers over the weekend.

Also in the First Division, Newmarket Celtic B defeated Bridge Utd B 3-2, Shannon Town B had a comprehensive 7-0 win over Turnpike while it finished Moher Celtic B 2-1 Hermitage.
