TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS are to be introduced on Parnell Street in Ennis before a retractable bollard is put in place.

Calls for the temporary installation of barriers โ€œat the end of the pedestrianised section of Parnell Street to stop vehicular traffic coming up the streetโ€ were voiced by Cllr Mark Nestor (FF) at this monthโ€™s meeting of the Ennis Municipal District.

Senior executive engineer, Eamon Oโ€™Dea confirmed that plans are continuing to install a retractable bollard but their contractor is delayed by ESB connections. โ€œThe Ennis MD will arrange temporary traffic management to obstruct errant drivers from entering Cabeyโ€™s Lane,โ€ he stated.

Some businesses operating after 6pm on the pedestrian section of Parnell Street โ€œhave had issues of cars travelling up the street when they shouldnโ€™t be,โ€ Cllr Nestor commented. His proposal was supported by Cllr Paul Murphy (FG).
